    Matrix designs, manufactures, and sells innovative technological products that help keep people safe. Originally focused on the underground coal mining industry, Matrix has expanded into new industrial markets in the United States and globally.

    We are currently seeking a Field Service Technician for our Western expansion. This position works remotely from their home office reporting to our Field Service and Support Manager located in Newburgh, Indiana.

    The selected candidate will be responsible for providing support to Matrix customers regarding installation, technical support, field service, training, and startup of all company products. The priorities of this position are to provide top-notch customer service and promote Matrix products. The candidate must be a self-starter, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work alone or in a small team. This position requires travel on a regular basis to customer sites. Trips will likely require overnight stays away from home for one or more nights.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide technical support in the form of troubleshooting on site or via phone to customers.

    • Perform installations, startup, and commissioning of various products.

    • Test and troubleshoot system functions and train customers on operation and maintenance.

    • Perform site visits and maintain customer relationships.

    • Coordinate service schedule with customers at various locations.

    • Perform field inspections and analysis of equipment in service and report to supervisor or development team as required.

    • Create Service Tickets, Equipment Records and Sales Orders.

    • Understand basic networking protocol for setting up IP addresses.

    Qualifications & Competencies

    • Hold a minimum of a Certificate of Completion from a Technical or Trade School.

    • Fiber optic, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi (802.11), TCP/IP Network skills.

    • Experience with Linux, Windows Server, and virtualization is useful.

    • Knowledge of RF and antenna theory with hands-on experience is useful.

    • Basic Electrical / Electronic skills.

    • Experience with installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems and equipment.

    • Project management ability and good documentation skills.

    • Proficient in the use of Network Protocol Analyzers / Tools.

    • Must be able to use Microsoft Office Suite.

    • Strong time management skills and organization skills.

    • Safety-minded (safety must be a priority).

    • Excellent communication skills.

    • Quality minded, resourceful, and dependable.

    Working Conditions

    • Work will be conducted at Mining and Industrial sites.

    • Underground work will be required regularly.

    • Regular travel and ability to work various shifts as required by customer.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near large moving machinery.

    • Matrix employees are furnished and required to wear safety gear such as hard hats, steel toe shoes, reflective clothing, earplugs, and safety glasses.

    Physical Requirements

    The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, or crouch. The employee may need to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
