We are currently seeking an experienced GROUNDWATER MODELER/HYDROLOGIST to join our team. Our AZ group focuses on hydrogeological and environmental consulting with offices in Phoenix, Prescott, and Tucson. The ideal candidate will be a hydrologist or hydrogeologist with experience in groundwater and contaminant transport modeling who is interested in further developing modeling proficiency skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the Matrix groundwater modeling team performing supportive tasks such as:
- Geodatabase management and spatial analysis
- Conceptual hydrogeologic model development
- Construction and calibration of numerical models
- Predictive scenario development
- Setup and run inverse models using PEST and pilot point parameterization
- Post-processing of model outputs including preparation of maps, charts, tables, and narratives
- Provide technical modeling input for:
- Hydrogeological and groundwater resources investigations
- Contaminant fate and transport studies
- Contribute to development of numerical and analytical groundwater, surface water, and unsaturated zone models
- Assist other senior professional staff as needed with data acquisition, data analysis, permitting tasks, and report preparation
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrology, or environmental science
- Master's degree in geology or hydrology a plus
- 8+ years in the hydrology field, with focus on groundwater modeling
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Software Suite: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
- Experience in groundwater modeling (analytical and numerical), including development of conceptual hydrogeologic models
- Experience in numerical model design, construction, calibration, and sensitivity analysis
- Experience using ArcGIS Desktop and/or QGIS working with geospatial databases
- Experience interpreting geologic, hydrogeologic and analytical data to develop and use conceptual hydrogeologic and predictive computer models
- Familiarity with MODFLOW and/or other groundwater flow and transport modeling codes
- Familiarity with inverse modeling using PEST and pilot point parameterization
- Strong information technology and data management skills
