    Job Description

    ROLE SUMMARY

    This position is responsible for managing and leading IT project development efforts for Matson brokerage unit. This individual has to provide technical solutions to business requirements/problems, work on new initiatives including budget estimates, manage deliverables, coordinate project timelines and issues with business units and provide direction to development teams. In addition, he should be able to support existing custom-built third party logistics (3PL) transportation management system (TMS) and make enhancements. Must work well in a team environment and with multiple departments within Matson.

    PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide technical expertise and direction for the design, development and implementation of effective IT solutions for Brokerage business unit.
    • Provide the design solutions to expand systems integrations to internal and external parties.
    • Quickly adopt to industry trends and developments and apply that knowledge to improve our services to customers and carriers.
    • Apply the knowledge to understand business problems and provide effective IT solutions.
    • Translate business requirements into technical documents and provide direction to development teams.
    • Coordinate with multiple technical teams on project estimates, cost and timelines.
    • Enforce coding standards, coding best practices and consistently deliver high quality product.
    • Able to suggest technical solutions to meet business requirements more efficiently and with greater reusability.
    • Create and execute development plans across multiple projects and effectively communicate project status and timelines to business.
    • Respond to, and resolve business inquiries and concerns.
    • Report customer issues to operational groups within Matson and provide follow-up to ensure a satisfactory resolution.
    • Develop an understanding of the customer’s business, build relationships and identify opportunities for growth in all Matson services that are available.

    TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES

    • Strong technical knowledge in Java, Spring, Oracle and MySQL databases and Amazon AWS.
    • Strong understanding of web technologies, web tools and browsers.
    • Demonstrate significant knowledge of Object Oriented programming concepts, Java, Web tools, RPA frameworks, Tableau and relational database concepts.
    • Strong knowledge of client/server and internet systems architectures and suggest the use of appropriate tools and technology for the application.

    QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE

    • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science.
    • Seven (7) years of software development manager experience in developing and managing projects using Java and web technologies.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in information technology including Java programming skills and SQL.
    • Excellent communication skills, written and oral proficiency in English.
    • Ability to build and maintain strong rapport and trust with customers, peers and leadership.
    • Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Presentation, Data collection and analysis.
    • High-level presentation skills, experience in developing documentation, training materials and conducting training sessions.
    • Ability to learn Matson’s businesses, services and competitive strategies.
    • Strong organization skills and ability to manage global teams and work in a team environment.
    • Willingness and ability to travel within US.
