    Job Description

    ABOUT THE ROLE 

    The PRINCIPAL FINANCIAL & OPERATIONS ANALYST is responsible for financial analysis, in-depth program evaluations, and offering guidance on how to manage the business more efficiently. Being able to apply both technical and analytical skills is key to the success in this position. Additional roles include preparing internal reporting and variance analysis; building and applying new methods of analysis/presentation; identification of cost-efficient alternatives; and preparing the annual budget development for the Operations Division. This is a cross functional role that interacts with numerous departments and functions to help streamline and systematize business processes and procedures. This position is available for a hybrid/flex work opportunity.  

    WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

    • Support the Operating Department on all operating and financial related matters.
    • Lead ad-hoc accounting projects and segments of larger projects as assigned by the Senior Manager.
    • Responsible for preparation, review and analysis of operating plans and forecasts.
    • Provide internal financial analysis including weekly vessel and terminal cost analysis, spend reports, and variance analysis.
    • Analyze monthly activities and financial results, approval of invoices and monitoring contractual compliance.
    • Prepare and evaluate strategic business opportunities involving the Operations Department.
    • Maintain SOX 404 internal control compliance, working with the Accounting Department as necessary.
    • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost-efficient alternatives.

    YOU HAVE THESE SKILLS: 

    • Ability to create and analyze complex Excel workbooks for formulating budgets, operations and cost analysis and undergoing cost analysis.
    • Strong written and verbal communications skills; interacts effectively with various levels of management.
    • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of an integrated operating team.
    • Demonstrated project management ability.

     

    AND THESE QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting strongly preferred.
    • Extensive computer skills, especially Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and PowerBI), Tableau, and Workday.
    • At least three to five years of experience involving accounting practices, management of change, streamlining processes, business plan development, and forecasting.
