    Job Description

    THE OPPORTUNITY: 

    The Digital Designer position provides 3D digital modeling services to all Mattel brands with emphasis on 3D visualization.

    The position is responsible for generating virtual model renderings & animations and applying like principles to other digital development workflows related to Digital Face Design, Digital Soft Goods, Digital Hair, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. The position coordinates and manages these projects through direct interaction and communication with Design and Development teams to ensure all parties are working toward a common goal.

    WHAT YOUR IMPACT WILL BE: 

    • Optimizing 3D models and utilizing Maya / V-Ray to generate photorealistic product renders.
    • Work to optimize virtual model creation process and present process improvement recommendations to management.
    • Assist in the creation of training and documentation related to innovative processes.
    • Operate independently while interpreting digital design input from multiple sources to rapidly generate virtual models for review.
    • Interface with a global cross functional teams to identify virtual model adoption opportunities.
    • Support Digital Design management by addressing project specific strategic goals.
    • Possess organizational skills to reduce redundancy in work and processes through libraries and standards.
    • Unwrap and texture 3D assets
    • Create animation rigs in Maya for selected models
    • Animate selected models to illustrate product features and functionality
    • Utilize Maya / VRay to create photorealistic renders of digital assets at various stages of development and within project deadline constraints
    • When needed, convert CAD data to render mesh assets for use within Maya / V-Ray rendering pipeline
    • Compositing of render assets
    • Collaborate with design team members to ensure product renders and aesthetic standards adhere to a high level of quality
    • Advance Virtual Model creation process by researching and leveraging related technologies
  • Qualifications

    WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: 

    • 2+ years of creative work experience with portfolio.

    • Autodesk Maya 1-2 years experience – Emphasis on modeling, rigging, lighting, animating

    • Zbrush / Mudbox Proficiency

    • Adobe Creative Suite - Proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects

    • Proficiency with V-Ray / General rendering workflows

    • Collaborative mindset and strong communications skills

    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

    • Traditional art skills and understanding of aesthetic design principles
