    Job Description

    THE OPPORTUNITY:  Mattel is seeking a GRAPHICS DESIGN ASSOCIATE to design thumbnails, banners, and other static visual assets in support of our portfolio of YouTube channels. This individual will receive guidance from Mattel’s content publishing team to create imagery that reflects the content of each asset or event and adheres to YouTube best practices.

    WHAT YOUR IMPACT WILL BE:

    • Build a deep understanding of voice and strategy for each brand.
    • Receive weekly reports from Content Publishing Associate Managers on upcoming content and asset needs, including required design elements.
    • Watch content to understand key plot and visual elements (needed for thumbnails).
    • Conceptualize and craft YouTube-related visual assets (e.g. thumbnails, channel banners) in a timely manner that:
    • Accurately reflect the content they represent.
    • Assets relevant and highly engaging to the desired audience.
    • Adhere to platform dimensions and best practices.
    • Align with all legal, platform, and company policies.
    • Work with Content Publishing Associate Managers, Strategy team to track CTR performance of thumbnails at certain timestamps.
    • Coordinate with Content Publishing Associate Managers and YT Strategists to execute thumbnail benchmark updates, A/B tests.
    • Collaborate with YT Operations and Creative teams to quickly iterate on thumbnail design, optimizing for maximum CTR across YouTube (and eventually Facebook).

    WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

    • College degree or equivalent experience.
    • 2 years designing YouTube visual assets (e.g. thumbnails).
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom).
    • Experience with color correction, masking (background removal), and layout
    • Ability to think analytically and creatively.
    • Experience in the digital media industry, specifically kids YouTube content publishing landscape.
    • Strong time management, planning and project execution skills.
    • Key detail to organization and file storage
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Outstanding attention to detail.
    • Basic understanding of the YouTube performance metrics (e.g. CTR).
    • Working knowledge of office presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint/Keynote).
    • Maintain awareness of current YouTube best practices
    • Familiarity with COPPA/CARU.
