    Type: Full-time faculty (185 days paid over 12 months)

    Maumee Valley Country Day School is seeking a student-centered, creative individual who orchestrates learning for students in ways that are engaging, challenging, and relevant in order to fulfill our personal, experiential, and global vision. The successful candidate is a resourceful and innovative teacher who uses a range of pedagogical techniques in order to reach all learners. The ideal candidate loves developing a curriculum that is experiential, problem-based and allows students to grapple with real-world questions and solutions.

    This position reports to the Head of Middle School and collaborates closely with all members of the grade-level team as well as the Math/Science Department of the entire school.     Key Responsibilities and Duties

    The best candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding and practice of the following:

    Delivering differentiated instruction

    Experience using a guided math approach to reach a wide range of learners

    Experience teaching big ideas to promote conceptual understanding

    Use of manipulatives and other hands-on activities for experiential learning

    Fostering a growth mindset in students

    Collaboratively plan and co-teach social studies units

    Collaboratively plan and teach advisory lessons on geography, SEL, and human growth and development

    Productive collaboration between themselves and their grade-level partners, specialists, and academic support

    Pedagogical skills to organize and implement rigorous math and science instruction that engages and excites our learners

    Passion for educational research and effective practice

    Ability to implement backward design, organize instruction around established learning objectives, and understand the vital importance of planning

    Incorporate parental involvement in the instructional program and create strong home-school communication structures

    Attendance at a week-long overnight camp trip with the students

    Education and Experience:

    Bachelor's degree in education (grades 4-9) specializing in math and science, master’s degree preferred

    3-5 years of teaching experience in providing experiential and effective math and science instruction, preferred

    Proven track record of assisting students in reaching high levels of academic achievement

    Faculty:

    Must be willing and able to secure an Ohio Permanent Non-Tax certificate or professional teaching license. The school will support you in obtaining this once hired. However, it must be secured within the first six months of employment for compliance purposes.
