Maumee Valley Country Day School seeks a student-centered, creative individual who orchestrates learning for students in engaging, challenging, and relevant ways to fulfill our personal, experiential, and global vision. The successful candidate is a resourceful and innovative teacher who uses various pedagogical techniques to reach all learners. The ideal candidate loves developing an experiential, problem-based curriculum that allows students to grapple with real-world questions and solutions.
This position reports to the Head of the Middle School and collaborates closely with a cross-divisional math department and the entire Middle School faculty. Key Responsibilities and Duties
Develop and implement engaging math and lessons organized around experiences and real-life applications
Use highly interactive, multimodal, and developmentally appropriate teaching and classroom management practices
Provide a positive and safe environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process, take risks, and learn from mistakes
Serve as an advisor and mentor for students; facilitate clubs as needed
Provide extra help to students individually or as a group
Demonstrate collegiality and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues to enhance the instructional environment
Evaluate student performance
Maintain effective and efficient record-keeping procedures
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, administrators, and other professionals regularly
Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and the community
Use a variety of methods and approaches (including differentiation) to match curricular objectives to the range of student needs and ensure equal opportunity for all students
Develop high expectations for all students to deepen their knowledge and understanding and maximize their achievement
Monitor student activities in classrooms and on the rest of the school’s campus to ensure the welfare and safety of the students
Work with other members of the faculty, administration, and staff on interdisciplinary opportunities at the school
Actively engage in personal and professional work in support of the school’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Middle School
Meet performance goals established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational planning

The ideal candidate for the position will have the following experience:
Bachelor's or master’s degree in math education
Experience teaching math to Middle School-aged children
You must be willing and able to secure an Ohio Permanent Non-Tax certificate or Professional Teaching license. The school will support you in obtaining this once you are hired. However, for compliance purposes, it must be secured within the first six months of employment.
