We are seeking a Director of Technology to join our vibrant and collaborative management team, reporting directly to the President of Mayzo.

    In this key individual contributor role, you will lead the Company's efforts to meet customer needs and grow sales by expanding and improving Mayzo’s product offerings, and by guiding others on their properties and applications. This position will also provide technical expertise to assure manufacturing effectiveness and product quality. This is a full-time position based at our North Atlanta Headquarters in Suwanee, GA, with work hours of 8 am - 5 pm. Up to 25% travel may be required, including both domestic and international trips. Relocation (Domestic only) assistance is available. Primary Responsibilities for the role are:Technical Service

    o Assist sales with competitive product technical analysis.

    o Provide technical advice to internal partners (such as sales, marketing and production personnel), including product recommendations, processing and application of new or existing products.

    o Assist with customers’ technical issues: Collaborate to understand problems; research, evaluate and test solution options; reach conclusions and implement improvements.

    o Track and problem-solve customer complaints.

    Product Innovation

    o Visit customers to gather information about product and processing needs, and to engage in innovation dialogues.

    o Work with other technical, manufacturing and sales experts as needed, to generate innovative ideas to improve our product offerings

    o Research technical literature and patents to develop and evaluate ideas and options.

    o Screen new emerging technologies and/or materials as possible solutions to address existing or developing market needs.

    o Take innovative concepts to suppliers/manufacturers to see if development is feasible.

    o Quantify the costs and benefits of developing new or modified products, to set priorities and assign resources productively. Work with Sales and Executive team to determine justification of development projects.

    o Oversee effective experimentation involving generating, formulating and evaluating new or modified materials.

    New Product Commercialization

    o Work with sales to develop marketing materials for new products, and product introduction campaigns.

    o Follow-up to measure degree of success of new product introductions.

    o Coordinate with customer R&D departments, assist with testing and plant trials.

    Product Technical Data

    o Assist in the creation of product specifications, technical datasheets, technical bulletins, marketing brochures, and other product literature.

    o Assist in the creation and management of product formulation and quality specification control plans.

    Technical Training

    o Prepare and deliver technical papers and presentations for meetings and conferences. Participate in technical organizations and professional associations related to our targeted technologies and industries.

    o Train Sales on technical product attributes.

    Suppliers

    o Provide guidance to the organization with respect to supplier selection and alternate sources of key materials.

    o Act as a technical consultant to manufacturing sites.

    o Work with suppliers to understand and solve technical formulation problems.

    Regulatory

    o Act as the primary liaison with outside experts regarding product regulatory issues.

    Intellectual Property

    o Oversee the security of our intellectual property portfolio, including patents.

    Required Qualifications

    Master’s Degree in Chemistry

    At least 15 years of experience in Chemical Laboratory, Technical Service or R&D Roles, with increasing management responsibility

    Understanding of product formulations and manufacturing processes related to specialty chemical additives

    Proven project management experience

    Experience with Mayzo customer markets and applications preferred (tape, label, adhesives, coatings, plastics, lubricants, etc.)
