    Job Description

    As McDonald’s continues to innovate and disrupt the restaurant industry, we are looking to add an experienced Disaster Recovery Senior Technical Product Manager who will coordinate the strategy, planning, governance, and execution of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity across McDonald’s technology landscape, acting as a champion focused on continued business operations in the event of a disruption.

    In this role, you will partner with the McDonald’s Business, Providers, and Infrastructure teams to:

    • Identify critical business processes and the impact of their interruption
    • Develop technology resilience plans to ensure the availability of critical services & applications
    • Formulate and implement strategies to minimize the impact (i.e., productivity, revenue, financial performance, image) and recover critical and vital business functions; and
    • Administer an exercise and maintenance program to ensure the viability of the plans

    This position will be based out of our headquarters in Chicago. On-site availability is a must.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Plans and leads execution of annual Business Continuity exercises to test redundancy and failover capabilities of critical infrastructure to recover critical business processes during a disaster speedily
    • Coordinates the collection and annual maintenance of Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity plans
    • Assists in the development of critical internal and external reporting metrics for the Business Continuity Management Program that provides clear visibility into McDonald’s Business Continuity readiness posture
    • Assists in the development of schedules and materials for the Business Continuity training and awareness activities to ensure that Business Continuity teams are trained and proficient in implementing the Business Continuity plans
    • Partners with a global team of skilled professionals to ensure McDonald’s recovery strategies & capabilities support our Business Continuity readiness framework
    • Maintain the plan for accuracy to reflect changes to Business & Infrastructure
    • Works closely with the Information Security Team and IT Operations team members to determine gaps and establish strategies for risk mitigation
    • Implements and maintains processes and best practices to safeguard McDonald’s mission-critical applications, infrastructure, and data
    • Communicates and escalates risks to business stakeholders for remediation or acceptance
    • Ensures new systems meet resiliency requirements as prescribed by the assigned criticality. Ensure adherence to policies and standards as they pertain to the McDonald’s Business Continuity Management Program
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience
    • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing an Information Technology Disaster Recovery program for a large-scale eCommerce, airline, or banking company
    • 5+ years of experience in Information Technology – Knowledge of Backups and Storage, Linux/Unix/Windows Systems, and Virtualization technologies
    • 5+ years of experience facilitating group discussions, training/awareness meetings, and exercise scenarios
    • Must have practical knowledge of using Excel for Data Analysis, PowerPoint for Infographics, and SharePoint for Collaboration
    • Ability to conduct research into issues, evaluate solutions and translate findings into roadmaps and leadership presentation
    • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to understand business challenges, drive process improvements and translate into solutions
    • Superb communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex ideas in easy-to-understand business-friendly language

    Desired Skills

    • Industry-recognized certification in Business Continuity Management Program or Information Security is desirable
    • Familiarity with public cloud environments
    • Experience in a retail environment with global offices, data centers, and cloud environments
    • Motivation to use initiative to make an immediate impact in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
    • A strong team player with a willingness to learn, engage and build relationships with both internal colleagues and external partners
    • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet project/global program requirements
    • Knowledge of industry best practices and standards
