    Job Description

    We are looking for a dynamic Communications Measurement & Insights (CM&I) Manager to join our Brand Communications team.

    This person will be responsible for distilling insights and measuring the effectiveness of our proactive initiatives (campaigns, announcements, activations) to strengthen forward looking strategies by leading campaign/announcement reporting, ad-hoc analyses, strategic planning (benchmarking, goal setting, insights), and performance management (monthly/quarterly reporting).

    The role will also include driving the implementation and continuous development of a new communications measurement infrastructure, which includes partnering with the larger CM&I team to evolve planning/measurement frameworks, metrics, processes, deliverables, and points of integration.

    PROACTIVE MEASUREMENT & INSIGHTS

    • Campaign/Announcement Reporting: Assess the effectiveness of US/Global initiatives and oversee inputs for McDonald’s marketing mix model (MMM). Leverage earned, owned, and paid results across traditional and social media
    • Ad-Hoc Analysis: Conduct assessments of historical, competitive, industry, and/or geopolitical media landscape to guide strategic decisions
    • Strategic Planning Support: Define measurable communications objectives/KPIs and ensure initiatives, strategies, and tactics ladder up to goals
    • Performance Management: Evaluate collective earned efforts and inform priorities and strategies through cumulative monthly/quarterly reporting on proactive performance against overarching communications targets
    • Alignment: Establish and lead adoption of clear and consistent frameworks, benchmarks, metrics, tools, methods, and reporting templates to track performance

    INFRASTRUCTURE IMPLEMENTATION & DEVELOPMENT

    Implementation:

    • Drive execution of CM&I’s roadmap and plans for strengthening the wider measurement infrastructure, focusing largely on the proactive agenda and connecting the day-to-day to core communications goals
    • Support Director in onboarding internal/external teams and sharing clear, concise information on changes and the road map to evolving measurement
    • Have a strong familiarity with CM&I issues/trends and reputation workstreams and identify opportunities to partner with teammates on integrated solutions
    • Ensure a common language and definition of metrics are used across teams
    • Aid in the creation of a CM&I playbook as a resource for partners, outlining key details on roles, tools, metrics, goals, reporting, and resource

    Development:

    • Test and optimize the infrastructure and processes to ensure CM&I is effectively and consistently distilling insights and strengthening forward looking strategies
    • Identify measurement and reporting gaps and opportunities for improvement
    • Create standardized, highly visual report formats to arm each partner group (senior leadership, brand communications, global media relations, local market operators) with the information they need to make decisions
    • Work with tech providers and agencies to ensure data/analytics Dashboards meet Communications teams’ needs and that they have a deep understanding of the tool’s capabilities
    • Lead the development of a database with historical results to better inform analyses and provide a mechanism for tracking cumulative performance (monthly/quarterly, year-over-year)
    • Further align the measurement strategy with key business departments (marketing, insights), the Global Impact team (e.g., Communications, Public Affairs/Strategy), and agency partners

    RELATIONSHIP BUILDING

    • Develop and maintain relationships with key partners across the business, especially with those departments and individuals that the Communications team supports, as well as with Consumer and Business Insights (Marketing) and national/local agencies
    • Represent the Communications team both internally within the McDonald’s system and externally at industry and business functions, events, etc. Brings back knowledge and new information to the team and department to further collective skills development and leadership

    AGENCY & VENDOR MANAGEMENT

    • Manage vendors to develop and implement measurement road map and work closely with communications agencies to encourage adoption
    • Streamline vendors and inputs to create stronger efficiencies and consistent approach
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Experience working in data and analytics, consumer insights, or communications/public relations – earned media monitoring and measurement experience required
    • Substantial knowledge of traditional (online news, blog, print, broadcast) and social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) metrics and tools
    • Ability to inform strategic communications decision-making through data
    • Results-oriented with proven experience in implementing solutions, from concept to execution of new ideas
    • Positive demeanor, strong attention to detail, and a self-starter
    • Creative problem solver with strong strategic attitude
    • Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.
