    Job Description

    McDonald’s North America Impact Team is seeking a Manager, Government Relations. The role will report to the Vice President, State & Local Government Relations and Community & Public Affairs.

    The role will be located at McDonald’s Global Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.

    The Manager will support the creation of new high performing State & Local Government Relations, Community & Public Relations (S&L GR) team that will elevate McDonald's external affairs presence and drive increased connectivity and engagement with field teams across the United States.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:

    • Leading the development and continuous improvement of operations (i.e., meeting cadence, trainings) and internal communications that educate the System on the S&L GR team’s work (i.e., newsletters, legislative and community engagement updates)
    • Ensure alignment of key tools and strategies across the enterprise, as appropriate, especially with International Government Relations and Federal Government Relations, North America Impact and Global Impact teams
    • Serving as the horizontal team member across S&L GR, ensuring consistency and quality of the strategies we execute across the US
    • Serving as team’s lead on development and execution of new Global Government Relations Center of Excellence, that will bring together US State, US Federal and International Government Relations expertise, establishing critical political and policy capabilities across the McDonald’s global System.
    • Supporting North America Impact team special projects, as needed.
    • Leading agenda setting and logistics for key meetings, including desired outputs
    • Representing team as a cross-functional thought partner
    • Reviewing action items decided upon at each strategic meeting
    • Collaborate with internal communications support to align and streamline all functional communications strategies
    • Leading and coordinating leadership presentations
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree
    • 5+ years relevant work experience
    • Personable networker and attuned listener who can work collaboratively to run bold priorities on behalf of team, both internally and externally.
    • Strong background in project management and experience advising organizations and programs is preferred.
    • Enthusiasm around handling unique projects and initiatives, including support and logistics and execution of all team touchpoints and coordination of outreach across a wide array of internal and external partners.
    • Self-starter with a strong sense of initiative, focused on results; ability to handle multiple, simultaneous projects and, at times, within ambiguous and undefined circumstances
    • Demonstrated ability to apply good judgment in high pressure moments, handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all they do
    • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments while being flexible, collaborative, and deadline-driven
    • Excellent communicator with ability to adapt & simplify messaging for various audiences & levels in the organization
    • Ability to travel within set geography (20%)
