We are looking for a creative strategist for our new social shop, Look Squirrel Content. Not only do you need to live and breathe social, but you need to enjoy building something from the ground up. Our group is small but mighty. Be ready to wear more than one hat.
You will be the voice of social strategy for our team. You will need to be on point with the ever-changing trends on the different social platforms. You will need to be able to research media trends and cultural and audience insights in order to point the content creators in the right direction with specific human insights. We believe very strongly in the importance of strategy as the best way to get to interesting creative and human insights.
Duties/Responsibilities:
SOCIAL CONTENT GUIDANCE AND DEVELOPMENT
Collaborate with a dynamic team to develop and/or manage social media content priorities and pillars
Act as the creative right hand by providing inspiration and helping push ideas further
Keep the creative team up to date on the latest best practices for each social channel
Be an active creative participant in brainstorming and all the way through to content production
Regularly share social media performance to guide the development of creative
Be a go-to source of “best in class” examples of social creative
Use social insights to inform creative development and distribution for maximum relevance, impact and effectiveness
Develop social briefs, strategies and creative ideas throughout the marketing funnel: everything from a major rebrand to driving new clients for a subscription-based product launch to an always-on full-funnel campaign
Partner with others on the team to make your and their ideas shine through project-based partnerships and weekly peer-based creative reviews
SOCIAL STRATEGY AND VISION
Craft social briefs with client goals, messaging priorities and KPIs in mind
Be a thought leader on how social is fundamentally changing marketing
Roll up sleeves to continually inspire our clients with a vision for their brand, and develop strategies that transform our clients’ business and push the boundaries of social platforms
Collaborate with McJ brand strategists and media team for additional brand and media information
Travel to client locations for pitches, collaborative work sessions and speaking engagements
SOCIAL TRENDS AND REPORTING
Attend and contribute to weekly/daily social squad meetings, as well client meetings
Stay up to date with the latest social media trends and the evolving conversation cycles
Be the lead on the latest social news, platform capabilities and advertising opportunities
Fully embrace a platform-first mentality
Regularly analyze performance metrics, conversation insights and growth trends to inform creative development and strategic new opportunities
Regularly share social trends and performance learnings to clients
Participate in new business pitches, prepared with the latest platform capabilities and creative opportunities
Requirements:
Avid social media user with in-depth understanding of social media platforms, culture and trends; familiarity with building and managing campaigns across all current platforms: Meta, YouTube, X, TikTok, LinkedIn and beyond
Strong visual storytelling and communication skills. Experience simplifying complex information into consumer narratives, with proven storytelling prowess
Experience using social listening and reporting tools and ability to cull insights from data from online/social sources to inform creative
Passion for great storytelling that is related to Gen Z and millennial audiences
Practiced in briefing creative teams with an ability to mine for insights and trends, inspiring creative teams and clients to do big things
Comfortable presenting and providing strategic guidance to client teams
Highly collaborative and energized by seeing those around you succeed
Portfolio link or examples of campaign work
Familiar with existing and new social platforms and behaviors
Ability to leverage new platforms
Ability to put ideas into a deck and sell to client
Ability to use Slack, email, etc.

4+ years of professional creative agency experience in developing social content calendars, briefing creative teams, and creating and implementing social media strategies (organic and paid)
Must possess demonstrated success at growing and engaging social media audiences
At least 1 to 2+ years of experience creating engaging content
