    General Summary

    The Project Manager, Research (Project Manager) supports the Program Manager, Research in day-to-day operations of initiatives for one or more grants designed to increase communication and collaboration between clinicians and rehabilitation researchers within and outside the organization.

    The Project Manager, Research will consistently demonstrate support of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab statement of Vision, Mission and Core Values by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the institute.

    The Project Manager, Research will demonstrate Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Core Attributes: Communication, Accountability, Flexibility/Adaptability, Judgment/Problem Solving, Customer Service and Core Values (Hope, Compassion, Discovery, Collaboration, and Commitment to Excellence) while fulfilling job duties.

    Principal Responsibilities

    The Project Manager, Research:

    1. Executes administrative tasks necessary to bring projects to completion and track all activities as needed for program improvement and internal/external reporting.
    2. Manages multiple aspects of pilot project program(s), such as organizing the call for applications, promoting the program, analyzing application data, leading review meetings, disseminating awarded projects, and providing feedback and coaching to non-awarded applicants.
    3. Manages portfolio of awarded research projects in collaboration with Research Administration. Collect and track project deliverables, review monthly expense reports, and provide support to pilot awardees to facilitate on-time, on-budget completion.
    4. Provides remediation to pilot awardees as needed with support from manager.
    5. Organizes and moderates multi-disciplinary feedback sessions and other clinician-researcher initiatives as needed.
    6. Manages monthly research office hours and facilitate discussion between researchers and clinicians. Utilize tracking system to monitor engagement and outcomes.
    7. Provides content and materials for annual reports, advisory board meetings, and leadership requests as needed.
    8. Responsible for the development, management and integrity of all project data.
    9. Assists with presentation of project data to internal and external audiences.
    10. Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

    Reporting Relationships

    1. Reports directly to the relevant Program Manager, Research.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

    1. Work requires a professional level of knowledge in a medical or scientific field equivalent to that which is acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree. Master's degree preferred.
    2. 5+ years of experience with project planning and execution required.
    3. Some clinical experience or knowledge of physical rehabilitation preferred.
    4. Some experience with grant funded research and knowledge of research methodology.
    5. Ability to understand clinical study protocols and assist study investigators when necessary.
    6. Able to work receiving little instruction on day-to-day work, but general instructions on new assignments.
    7. Able to communicate with senior internal and external personnel and provide recommendations related to own area of expertise.
    8. Communication skills required for writing and presenting detailed scientific results to a wide audience.
    9. Ability to concentrate and demonstrate high attention to detail.
    10. Advanced skill of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
    11. Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact daily with internal/external customers.
    12. Advanced organizational skills to efficiently prioritize and complete a variety of complex tasks.
    13. Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting to maximize quality and efficiency of operations.

    Working Conditions

    1. Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
