SURGICAL SUPPORT TECHNICIAN - OPERATING ROOM

JOB SUMMARY:

The Surgical Support Technician position provides technical and supportive patient care functions of assigned specialty areas. Primarily responsible for indirect patient care within the surgical arena. Included in the tasks will be the responsibility for the turnover of equipment and supplies required for the safe administration of anesthesia and surgical equipment, as well as environmental cleanliness. Prepares anesthesia related equipment and supplies for readiness of all cases including cleaning, setting up and decontamination. The direct care will be that of assisting the surgical staff with the task of, but not limited to; turning, restraining, and transporting patients.  ust be flexible, punctual, and be willing to learn the both the surgical and anesthesia environment. Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  High school diploma or GED required. Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant or related field preferred. Past surgical experience is not a must but desirable / Previous experience in a hospital setting preferred. On-the-job training for maximum of three months (periodic assessment of progress -if applicable)
