  • Responsibilities
    1. Job responsibilities include those listed in the competency document.

    2. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.

    3. Recognizes the normal signs (growth and development of aging) of the patient population indicated above and understands the requirements of assessment, treatment, and care of the specific age group(s).

    4. Initiates and maintains the hygiene/ cleanliness of the patients, the patient's environment, and; but not limited to, the Emergency Department (ED) environment.

    5. Understands and recognizes appropriate storage and safety of medications (such as large volume IV's, alcohol, saline, medications in prepackaged kits).

    6. Promotes and fosters an environment of comfort and safety for patients and visitors.

    7. Performs or assists with performing nutritional/ hydration interventions (feeding, providing fluids, H20 or snacks).

    8. Identifies and communicates appropriate patient data to members of the interdisciplinary team.

    9. Collects and records patient related data through the performance of direct care tasks.

    10. Demonstrates continued professional growth through setting goals and participating in Evidence Based tasks.

    11. Utilizes appropriate health and safety to protect both the patient and staff.

    12. Demonstrates competency in, but not limited to, the following on the ED (refer to McLeod Health Medical-Surgical Technician/Extern II/Extern III/Graduate Extern Competency Checklist):

    13. Fosters an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion and respect for all patients, families, and visitors.

    14. Performs general transportation and courier duties as directed.

    Required Skills

    WORK SCHEDULE: Full time 12 hour shifts; as scheduled; as needed based on departments demands; every other weekend 

    _LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS/EDUCATION:  _Successful completion of a nursing assistant program or 1+ years of experience in a clinical setting. Minimum of a High School Diploma/Equivalent from an accredited school ~ OR ~ successful completion of WIN Testing ~ OR ~ or completion of McLeod approved Transition to Work Program

    ORIENTATION/TRAINING: First week with McLeod: Monday 7:30a-5:00p; Tuesday 8:30a-5:00p; Thursday 8:00a-12:00p; and Friday 8:30am to 12:30pm. If you are selected for hire, this is the required schedule to complete first week of employment.   

    DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: Emergency Services -64 beds; Level  II Trauma Unit, 73,000 patients annually, triage area, fast track, Certified Chest Pain Center, Certified Stroke Center, HeartReach Ambulance, and AirReach Helicopter
