McLeod Software is seeking a SERVICE DESK SPECIALIST for our headquarters in Birmingham, AL. 

    This position will provide fast and useful technical assistance on computer systems and networks, answering queries on basic technical issues and offering advice to solve them.  An excellent Service Desk Specialist must have good technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain solutions.  A customer service mindset and patience are key to deal with difficult issues.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT Services Desk.
    • Understand escalation of significant and recurring issues.
    • Respond to queries by phone and email.
    • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming concerns and issues related to systems, software, and hardware.
    • Test, troubleshoot, and evaluate hardware, software, and/or systems (networks).
    • Troubleshoot computer-related problems; develop and implement solutions to those problems in a timely manner.
    • Understand and be understood by non-IT employees/customers.
    • Assist in asset management of computer hardware and software.
    • Troubleshooting of basic elements of networking.
    • Assist with tracking and maintaining computers and software.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Excellent problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills, along with patience, a customer-friendly attitude, and the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment, willing to learn.
    • Technology background or strong personal interest in technology.
    • Ability to troubleshoot, recreate and resourcefully solve difficult problems.
    • Desire to learn - Ability to learn quickly in a self-directed environment.
    • 1+ years of IT Support experience.
    • Knowledge of networking, Windows, Mac, and VOIP systems.

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor degree in IT, Business Administration, or Communications preferred and/or equivalent experience.
