McLeod Software is seeking a TECHNICAL WRITER for our headquarters in Birmingham, AL. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Oversee the creation and maintenance of all internal and external communication and forms, including proofreading and editing
• Support the ongoing metadata maintenance and process documentation for public facing APIs
• Takes the initiative to understand the business impacted by the project, current, trends and information that could impact the business and organization
• Effectively gather information from subject matter experts across different departments of the business
• Effectively ‘translate' technical details into materials that will be consumed by both technical and business end users
• Integrate customer feedback into content creation
• Learn the different applications/systems and processes used on a daily basis
• Work with internal end-users and technology teams to create new topics
• Review and create topics based on usage statistics
• Create engaging eLearning projects/training modules
• Develop materials in a manner that effectively considers Global end user audience (content development is English-only)
• Write JavaScript for custom functionality

COMPETENCIES: 

• Has basic knowledge of information systems elements (hardware, software, and network) and their application to written or video documentation

• Has an understanding of the supported business function(s) and the corresponding technical strategies, benefits, risks, and costs that impact the business

• Highly polished and confident communication ability, a skilled writer/producer

• Ability to work independently in a Scrum environment

• JavaScript/jQuery experience is preferred 

• Transportation/logistics industry experience is preferred
