    GROUP DESCRIPTION

    The Fuel Business Group combines activities associated with the conversion and enrichment of uranium and with the design and fuel production for nuclear reactors. The production capacities of the group, one of the world's leaders in the sector, are undergoing modernization.

     

    Generally, the BWR Fuel Mechanical Analysis team directly supports the fabrication and operation of fuel for commercial boiling water reactors in the US Region.  The BWR Fuel Mechanical Analysis team is responsible for developing and managing fuel designs, including the definition and execution of supporting analyses to ensure compliance with safety and licensing requirements.

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION

     

    Framatome is seeking an intern for our BWR Mechanics group in Richland, WA. This temporary position includes working with engineering staff to support engineering studies in support of fuel assembly design analyses and special contracts with US customers.

     

    Responsibilities may include: - Performance of engineering calculations using standard engineering computer codes. - Preparation of documentation supporting engineering studies. - Creation or modification of automation codes supporting engineering calculations - Creation and/or maintenance of Engineering databases.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.

     

    • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least four semesters completed by start of internship/co-op.

    THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE DESIRED AND WILL BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE ALL CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.

     

    • Previous internship/co-op experience in field of study

    • Knowledge of Statics, Dynamics, 3D Modeling and 2D drafting, Finite Element Analysis

    • Experience with Python, MathCAD, MatLab, ANSYS, Microsoft Office

    • Must have previous supervisory experience 
    • Must have valid NC Driver’s license and maintain a good driving record
