    Qualifications

    • UAW Journeyman card is required. If no card, then must have completed a formal apprenticeship program or completion of eight-year work training program to the satisfaction of the skilled trades committee in order to apply for UAW Journeyman card.
    • Must be capable of troubleshooting and repairing machines and equipment.
    • Must be capable of operating, reading, and understanding precision measuring and gauging tools.
    • Must have working knowledge of lathes, mills, and grinding machinery.
    • Requires a very high degree of precision and control in work where damage could be great. High degree of proficiency and attention is required to safely operate machine tools.

    Position Responsibilities

    • Perform diverse duties to install and maintain production machines, equipment, and the plant facility.
    • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine services.
    • Perform mechanic skills including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
    • Diagnosis problems repair or replace parts test and make adjustments.
    • Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities which may include plumbing and carpentry duties.
    • Responsible to fabricate parts/equipment using machines and tools common to the trade.
    • Read and interpret blueprints, equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
    • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report any unusual situations to the proper supervision.
    • Responsible to maintain an updated industrial truck permit.
    • Comply with safety regulations, including lock out procedures and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
    • Responsible to complete required paperwork for data collection and documentation including orders of parts, work orders, etc.
    • Other duties as instructed by supervisor and/or operator instructions.

    Essential Job Function

    • Ability to climb in overhead structures; work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work to maintain all facility machines and equipment.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands

    • Work is performed in a manufacturing setting which requires personal protective equipment which includes industrial safety glasses, ear protection and proper footwear be worn throughout the plant. Specified gloves may be required dependent upon the job; long pants and long sleeves may be required for some jobs; and dependent upon the job no jewelry on hands. 
    • Must have corrected vision to operate equipment; must have depth perception to operate forklift.
    • On a frequent basis will be required to walk around the entire plant area. Use of upper extremities for simple grasping, reaching horizontally, grasping firmly, push/pull and use fine manipulation. Ability to lift from floor to waist to shoulder level and may require lifting of heavy material. Possess the ability to bend, squat, and twist body to work on equipment.

    SALARY INFO:

    $26.21 - $27 / HR
