Job Description

Harsco Environmental is seeking a Mechanic's Helper to assist our skilled team of heavy equipment mechanics in maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy machinery, including loaders, dozers, backhoes, cranes, and other specialized industrial equipment. This entry-level position will provide hands-on experience working alongside experienced mechanics in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. An incredible opportunity to learn an new trade.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in Mechanics and Repairs: Help mechanics with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of heavy equipment
• Prepare Tools and equipment.: Gather, organize, and maintain tools and equipment needed for daily repair and maintenance tasks.
• Perform Routine Inspections: Assist in inspecting equipment for signs of wear, damage, or malfunction, ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
• Support Disassembly and Reassembly: Help disassemble and reassemble parts of machinery, including engines, transmissions, and other components.
• Parts and Supply Management: Assist in receiving parts and supplies required for repairs, ensuring availability of necessary materials
• Cleaning and Safety : Clean equipment parts, tools and work areas regularly to ensure a safe and organized workspace
• Follow Safety Protocols: Follow all safety guidelines and procedures while performing maintenance tasks to ensure the safety of yourself and the team.
• Perform other duties as assigned: Assist the team with other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Education: High School diploma or equivalent: technical training or certification in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment maintenance is a plus.

Experience: Some mechanic training or technical school experience is preferred

Skills:

• Basic knowledge of mechanical systems
• Strong willingness to learn and take direction from senior mechanics
• Ability to safely handle tools and equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
• Ability to lift and carry heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more)
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Self-motivated with a strong desire to grow in the field of equipment maintenance
• Dependable, with a strong work ethic and commitment to the job
• Willing to work in an industrial environment in a physically demanding position
