    Job Description

    What You Get To Do:

    The Mechanical-Compliance Engineer provides critical engineering support for Elemental LED's award-winning portfolio of lighting products, dimmers, and drivers. The position involves a combination of new product design, sustaining engineering, and product compliance. This position collaborates with Engineering, Product Management, Quality, and Production teams to take projects from concept to full implementation.

    The Mechanical-Compliance Engineer is expected to perform the full range of professional and technical engineering duties including new product design, test plan development, test data evaluation, and new product introduction.

    The Mechanical-Compliance Engineer will support compliance requirements ensuring all of the Company’s products meet safety, environmental, and other regulatory requirements as determined by local, national, and international standards. The position manages relationships with testing agencies such as NSF, ETL, and UL and maintains all related documentation.

    The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000 annually, DOE.

    Challenge Yourself – The Specifics:

    • Develop 3D models and Engineering drawings of mechanical lighting components, including extrusions, channels, electromechanical connectors, switches, junction boxes, and electromechanical assemblies.
    • Create component fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, cable/wire drawings, and specification drawings
    • Review drawings and BOM’s for accuracy and completeness, ensuring engineering drafting standards are met.
    • Collaborates with other teams including Engineering, Product Management, Quality and Manufacturing to ensure all products meet regulatory and industry compliance standards
    • Conduct detailed engineering analysis to drive design decisions, creating models, drawings, and specifications for parts and assemblies
    • Specifies, develops, and procures fixtures, test equipment, and instrumentation to support test requirements related to safety and reliability
    • Evaluate the long-term reliability of products through calculated and demonstrated methods
    • Assist with the introduction of new products and new product initiatives to manufacturing and production staff
    • Designing and producing production tooling and fixturing, including resin/potting machines, for manufacturing processes
    • May provide technical direction and training to technical staff as needed or requested
    • Ensures all product certifications are current and appropriately documented
    • Proactively identifies systemic product safety issues and provides strategies for resolution
    • Maintains compliance database for various regulations including but not limited to: UL, ETL, CE, Title 24 JA8/JA10, BAA, Declare, RoHS, Prop 65, NSF, REACH, Conflict Materials
    • Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on principles, practices, and new developments in LED lighting product development and related compliance standards
    • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    We are looking for someone with:

    • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
    • 3 years of relevant experience in a related industry
    • Mechanical drawings, circuit diagrams and PCB construction
    • Knowledge of drafting standards for mechanical parts and assemblies
    • Proficiency with SolidWorks and other CAD/design software
    • Experience performing mechanical, reliability, and lifetime/endurance testing
    • Understand modern manufacturing processes, including sheet metal fabrication, extrusion, and injection molding.
    • Practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting effective staff reports
    • Understanding of AC/DC power and digital electronics is a plus
    • Manufacturing experience in an industrial environment is a plus
    • National and international standards and regulations relating to LED lighting and associated equipment is desired
    • Test methods and equipment relating to LED lighting equipment a plus
    • Prior experience with indoor and outdoor lighting standards and related electronic equipment is desired
    • FCC radiated and conducted emissions standards experience a plus
    • Effective technical report preparation and presentation
