    About the Company

Join a trusted mechanical contractor with more than 40 years of success delivering large-scale HVAC, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal systems across commercial and industrial projects. From hospitals and data centers to high-rise buildings , this company is known for its technical excellence, innovation, and safety-first culture.

Here, engineers work closely with project management and field teams in a collaborative, design-build environment that values craftsmanship, continuous improvement, and career growth.

    Position Overview

The Mechanical Design Engineer plays a key role in designing and engineering HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for complex commercial and industrial projects.

You'll be responsible for developing code-compliant, constructible, and efficient mechanical system designs that align with both engineering standards and field realities. This is an opportunity to blend technical design skills with real-world coordination —working side-by-side with project managers, VDC modelers, and installation teams.

Ideal candidates are highly skilled in Revit MEP and AutoCAD , understand the full lifecycle of mechanical systems, and thrive in a fast-paced design/build environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems for commercial facilities such as hospitals, data centers, and high-rise buildings.

    • Create detailed 3D models, layouts, and fabrication-ready shop drawings using Revit MEP and AutoCAD.

    • Perform heating/cooling load calculations , duct and pipe sizing, and equipment selection based on project requirements.

    • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards including ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, and SMACNA.

    • Collaborate with project managers, field foremen, and BIM/VDC teams to verify constructability and resolve design issues.

    • Participate in coordination meetings and communicate effectively across trades.

    • Respond to RFIs, submittals, and field requests during construction.

    • Support system commissioning, testing, and project closeout documentation.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (required).

    • 3+ years of experience designing mechanical building systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping) for commercial projects.

    • Experience with hospitals, data centers, or high-rise buildings preferred.

    • Proficient in Revit MEP and AutoCAD (required).

    • Working knowledge of ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, and SMACNA standards.

    • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred; progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure a plus.

    • Experience in design-build or design-assist environments strongly preferred.

    • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

    Compensation and Benefits

    • Competitive salary: $85,000 – $90,000 annually , based on experience.

    • Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement.

    • 401(k) with company match.

    • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance.

    • Paid time off and paid holidays.

    • Relocation assistance and tuition reimbursement.

    • Referral bonuses and clear career growth opportunities.

    • Advancement path into Project Management or Senior Engineering roles.
