SUMMARY
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who can translate customer specs, engineering standards, and real-world challenges into clear, accurate, buildable designs. You’ll work across engineering, manufacturing, and project management teams to ensure our enclosures are not only functional but exceptional.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interpret customer specifications and internal requirements to develop 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure accuracy, manufacturability, and completeness
- Own the quality of your work—proactively identify issues before they hit the shop floor
- Use SolidWorks and DraftSight (or similar software) to generate and revise technical drawings
- Build a detailed Bill of Materials (BOMs) in alignment with production and procurement needs
- Apply knowledge of structural, mechanical, or electrical principles to enclosure layout and component integration
- Maintain consistent drawing standards and adhere to internal QC processes
- Support ongoing product improvements and design optimization efforts
REQUIREMENTS
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, DraftSight, or similar CAD platforms
- Strong 3D visualization and interpretation skills
- Deep understanding of design for manufacturability
- Familiarity with structural and mechanical design; electrical design is a plus
- Experience supporting or working alongside manufacturing teams
- Self-motivation, a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to work under pressure without compromising quality
- Experience in emergency power systems or generator enclosures is highly desirable
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred—but equivalent experience in custom manufacturing or design is welcomed
- PE license is a bonus, not a requirement
- Mostly office-based (design and CAD work), with regular visits to the shop floor to validate designs
- Occasional travel may be required for site visits, customer collaboration, or vendor coordination
- Ability to climb ladders, walk fabrication lines, or inspect enclosures during and after build
