  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    This role is responsible for designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies for MCG custom switchgear products that meet client specifications. The incumbent in this role will exhibit a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, Autodesk Inventor and CAD software, and switchgear industry standards.

    Responsibilities:

    • Create a model of our structure and bus focusing on manufacturability, client specifications, and functional and regulatory requirements (coordinating with our vendors as needed).
    • Create designs specific to low voltage & medium voltage electrical switchgear assemblies/systems, replacement breakers and related equipment.
    • Make changes and corrections in the mechanical design throughout the life of the product.
    • Collaborate with electrical designers to ensure electrical functionality and to accurately depict the structure and bus in the client drawing package.
    • Support cross-functional departments: project management, manufacturing, sales, and estimating to produce parts lists, assembly drawings, and cut sheets for manufacturing in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Requisition materials in a timely manner.
    • Create engineering reports/submittals that clearly address the technical needs of a project.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in Mechanical Drafting, Drawing or Design, or relevant field (preferred) or commensurate experience.
    • Experienced in the design of electrical switchgear (UL891, UL1558, MV Metal Clad).
    • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in Design – switchgear, circuit design, electrical design, etc.
    • Autodesk Inventor (3D), required.
    • AutoCAD (2D), AutoCAD Mechanical, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Engineering Design, Product Development, Technical Analysis.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
    • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software. ****
    • Occasional travel is required for this position to MCG facilities and customer sites, some of which may require overnight stays.
