Mechanical Engineer – Engine & Equipment Controls
Location: San Antonio, TX
Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: $80,000+, Commensurate with experience
About This Opportunity
An established manufacturer of electronic control systems and electrification solutions for industrial, off-highway, agricultural, and commercial vehicle equipment is looking for a Mechanical Engineer for their growing engineering team in San Antonio, TX. This is a hands-on design role on a fast-moving product development team, with direct, close-in access to leadership and customers from day one.
What You'll Do
- Design mechanical and electro-mechanical components used in engine control systems and battery enclosures for demanding industrial and off-highway applications
- Lead design analysis (FEA, CFD), design reviews, DFMEA/PFMEA, and DFM reviews for new components
- Design for harsh operating environments — high vibration, extreme temperatures, and high mechanical stress
- Apply GD&T and tight-tolerance design practices to ensure components perform reliably in the field
- Work in aluminum, sheet metal, and plastic injection-molded materials, including seal design and leak testing
- Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, manufacturing, and quality teams, and interact directly with customers and suppliers on technical topics
- Move fluidly across multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced product development environment
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (MS a plus)
- Hands-on experience personally designing mechanical components — not just managing or coordinating a design effort
- Experience designing components for harsh/industrial environments: engines, off-highway equipment, oil & gas, or similar
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities across multiple projects
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary, commensurate with experience — the client has indicated they intend to pay above typical market averages for the right candidate. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates relocating to the San Antonio area.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage, including an HSA-qualified plan option with employer contributions
- Employer-paid basic life/AD&D coverage, plus short- and long-term disability coverage at no cost to employees
- 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 6% of pay
- Paid vacation/PTO, paid holidays, paid parental leave, and bereavement leave
- Tuition reimbursement and scholarship program
- Wellness program, including a quarterly wellness bonus and an Employee Assistance Program
