Senior Mechanical Engineer (Contract) – Pneumatic Systems / Paintball Equipment

    Location: Remote

    Schedule: Flexible, Part-Time, Contract position

Contract Length: ~3 months to start, potential to extend

    Compensation: Hourly + Full Benefits

    About the Opportunity

A founder in the sports equipment space is launching a new venture focused on next-generation paintball equipment including the design of a new air-driven paintball marker. We’re seeking a senior-level Mechanical Engineer with deep experience in pneumatics and precision mechanical design to lead the development of the company’s first products.

This is a part-time contract role ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys hands-on product development, rapid prototyping, and owning the mechanical architecture of a product from concept through early iterations. If the initial product launch goes well, there is strong potential for ongoing long-term contract work.

    What You’ll Do

    • Lead the mechanical design of a new air-driven paintball marker (pneumatic system design is essential)
    • Develop concepts, CAD models, and early prototypes using SolidWorks or Fusion 360
    • Iterate on designs based on testing, performance, and functional requirements
    • Collaborate directly with the founder to define requirements, timelines, and design milestones
    • Provide engineering guidance on manufacturability, materials, tolerances, and long-term product roadmap considerations
    • Potential to support additional product designs as the company grows

    What We’re Looking For

    • Senior-level Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience (not seeking junior or early-career candidates)
    • Strong background in pneumatic systems, air-driven mechanisms, or similar precision mechanical assemblies
    • Proficiency in SolidWorks or Fusion 360
    • Ability to work independently, plan your own work, and deliver high-quality design iterations
    • Fully remote candidates welcome

    Why This Role Is Unique

    • Work directly with a founder on a brand-new product line
    • High autonomy and ownership over the mechanical architecture
    • Flexible hours — ideal for someone consulting, semi-retired, or seeking part-time engineering work
    • Opportunity to stay on long-term as the company expands its product portfolio
