    Technical Source is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to support a major pharmaceutical client in Clayton, NC. This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to take on a high-impact role supporting the design, specification, and commissioning of mechanical utility systems in a cutting-edge pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. The Lead Mechanical Engineer will bring at least 6 years of experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry, and a strong foundation in problem-solving, technical design, and utility system integration. As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, this role offers the chance to work on complex, mission-critical systems while growing your technical expertise and leadership capabilities as part of a collaborative, forward-thinking team.

    Responsibilities of the Lead Mechanical Engineer include:

    • Design experience in at least two of the following system types: steam, chilled water, heating hot water, compressed air, natural gas, plumbing
    • Drive end-to-end project execution by managing vendor evaluations, supervising field construction, resolving contractor inquiries, approving submittals, and ensuring accurate as-built documentation, commissioning, and turnover packages.
    • Act as the site subject matter expert (SME) for utility infrastructure, analyzing and optimizing existing systems to support new FDA-licensed pharmaceutical manufacturing operations, and ensuring all designs meet regulatory and company standards.

    Qualifications of the Lead Mechanical Engineer include:

    • 6+ years experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in a large manufacturing environment
    • Demonstrated expertise in Utility System Design
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or related field) from an accredited institution. Ability to obtain a North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
