REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education: Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years’ experience. OR A MS with 8+ years’ experience. OR A BS with 10+ years’ experience or more.

Mechanical HVAC Design Engineer
Additional Duties
- Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS.
- Primary responsibilities include:
- HVAC design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to calculations for equipment sizing, duct sizing, pressure drops, cooling tower sizing, heating and cooling loads, and air balancing.
- Create/modify piping and instrumentation diagrams, system descriptions, mechanical equipment lists, integration with fire protection design, and vendor document reviews.
- Engineering Services shall be provided using SRNS processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided by SRNS.
Additional Education
\- BS Degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Nuclear Engineering or current registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering.
Additional Experience/Qualifications
- The following experience/skills are a requirement for this position:
- Candidate must demonstrate 10 years HVAC design experience in the nuclear or process chemical industry.
- Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of NFPA 90A, 90B, 91, and 801; ASHRAE Fundamentals; ASME AG-1, 509 and 510; SMACNA; and ARI 410, 430 and 450.
- Candidate must have the ability to walk down systems in the field.
- The following qualifications are preferred for this position:
- Candidate demonstrates experience in 2D MicroStation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD).
- Previous SRNS design experience and familiarity with the processes and procedures for providing engineering support to SRS facilities is preferred.
- Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years is preferred.
Additional Work Requirements
\- Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress, walking for distances of over half a mile, climbing of ladders to access remote areas, and dressing out in protective clothing.
