Role
This role will support our pulp and paper manufacturing equipment. The position is a key resource to ensuring our manufacturing operations run efficiently. Additionally, the position requires experience with maintenance type repairs & troubleshooting of equipment such as pumps, motors, bearings, agitators & mechanical drives. Experience with pipefitting, welding, rigging, equipment alignment, hydraulics and a background working within preventive maintenance systems and improving machine reliability is also desired. This role is a vital resource for the manufacturing machinery preventative and predictive maintenance programs. Technicians are required to strictly adhere to all safety and compliance guidelines the company sets forth.
Duties & Accountabilities
· Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions;
· Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments including laser alignment, ultrasonic belt tensioning devices, torque wrenches, etc.;
· Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts;
· Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments;
· Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges;
· Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance;
· Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment;
· Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results;
· Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests;
· Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends;
· Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations;
· Help drive Pixelle’s safety culture to a higher level.
Qualifications
Requirements
· High School Diploma or GED.
· Completion of a State certified Apprenticeship program in Mechanical (Millwright, Welder, Machinist, Mechanic), 2 year Mechanical technical degree & 2 years verifiable experience employed in the mechanical field or Mechanical Vocational school certificate (Millwright, Welder, Machinist, Mechanic) & 3 years verifiable experience employed in the field;
· Work Keys(Reading, Locating information & Math) Assessment;
· Ability to successfully pass written, interactive hands-on testing;
· Must be computer literate and possess professional communication skills;
· Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision;
· Ability to lift up to 100lbs., climb ladders and stairs, and stand for continuous periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation;
· Must be able and willing to work any shift, overtime, weekends and holidays when required;
· Must be able to read maintenance schematics / blueprints;
· Must be able and willing to work in a high volume manufacturing plant environment, in greasy, noisy, non-air conditioned areas (hot, humid, wet, dusty);
· Must be able and willing to work safely, including wearing and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Preferred Qualifications
· Welding experience in Arc, TIG, and wire feed preferred, either OJT or schooling. Certification preferred;
· Must possess or be willing and capable of learning and utilizing secondary maintenance skills such as pipefitting and machinist;
· Experience with equipment associated with a pulp and paperboard operations such as pumps, gearboxes, bearings, motors, etc.;
· Mechanical experience in an industrial environment required;
· Willing and able to use all skills in a teamwork environment in order to safely accomplish work with minimal supervision;
· Proficient with computer operating systems, networks and electronic information handling, Microsoft Office.
