Position Summary: VDC Group Manager
We are seeking a VDC Group Manager to lead and support our Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) initiatives. This role is integral to ensuring accurate, high-quality models that reflect field requirements and align with project goals. The VDC Group Manager will work cross-functionally with project teams, fabrication, and field operations to create and manage coordinated models and maintain content accuracy within our design platforms.
Core Responsibilities
Build and update mechanical system models using Autodesk Revit and Fabrication CADmep based on architectural and structural plans.
Develop and oversee ITM (.itm) and RFA (.rfa) content, ensuring libraries are clean, current, and consistent with company standards.
Maintain and enhance the fabrication database, including service definitions, fabrication profiles, costing structures, and labor data.
Support BIM coordination efforts by participating in model clash detection meetings and helping resolve design conflicts.
Ensure model deliverables align with project schedules and meet quality expectations.
Offer hands-on guidance and support to BIM staff regarding software usage, workflows, and modeling standards.
Coordinate with field leaders, fabrication teams, and operations to ensure digital plans translate effectively to the job site.
Perform constructability assessments to ensure models reflect best installation practices and adhere to project specifications.
Drive continuous improvement by identifying areas for automation, consistency, and workflow enhancements.
Assist in preconstruction planning by recommending model-based workflows and design strategies.
Foster a team-oriented environment, offering mentorship and technical expertise without direct supervisory responsibility.
Carry out additional related tasks as needed
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on VDC experience, with proficiency in Revit and Fabrication CADmep.
Strong mechanical background in HVAC and/or plumbing systems.
Working knowledge of construction codes and standards (IPC, SMACNA, ASME, etc.).
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Positive, team-first attitude with leadership potential.

Preferred Qualifications
Field experience in HVAC and/or plumbing
Experience using Stratus
Master’s license in mechanical or plumbing trades
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Experience with Dynamo or basic scripting in Revit
Work Environment
Primarily in-office role (up to 20% remote flexibility).
Occasional job site visits as needed.
