Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer custom automation systems, including mechanical 3D models, electrical schematics, and integrated control solutions.
- Collaborate with senior engineers in mechanical, controls, and software disciplines to create machines built to specific customer requirements.
- Produce complete machine models and assembly drawings using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or equivalent).
- Develop, program, and optimize PLC and HMI applications for custom machines; primarily using Siemens TIA Portal platforms.
- Integrate mechanical, electrical, and software elements into seamless automation systems for high reliability and performance.
- Provide technical expertise and engineering input throughout the entire project lifecycle, from customer specification to commissioning.
- Troubleshoot and resolve automation or system integration issues during both design and operational phases.
- Drive improvements and upgrades to existing machines, enhancing performance and adapting to changing customer needs.
- Work with cross-functional teams—including project managers and field technicians—to meet timelines and deliver effective solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree (or higher) in Automation, Robotics, or related discipline, with 5+ years of relevant experience in custom machinery or automation engineering.
- Strong track record in 3D machine design (SolidWorks or similar CAD software).
- Deep understanding of automation and control systems, PLC programming, HMI design, with hands-on experience in Siemens TIA Portal or similar platforms.
- Proficiency with electrical systems, industrial sensors, actuators, and motor controls for unique machine builds.
- Familiarity with integrating industrial automation components and systems for tailored applications.
- Experience with programming (ladder logic, C++, Python, or Siemens-specific environments).
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical communication skills.
- Commitment to precise engineering, high reliability, and custom client-focused solutions.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work closely with engineers and customers on one-of-a-kind projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Previous involvement with custom machine or automation projects for manufacturing or industrial clients.
- Experience with industrial robotics, SCADA/data acquisition, motion control, and machine optimization tools.
- Familiarity with automation diagnostics, system upgrades, and continuous improvement for custom-engineered equipment.
