Mechatronics Technician Job Description

The Mechatronics Technician supports manufacturing operations by assembling, testing, calibrating, and maintaining electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical systems used in the production of architectural lighting products. This role works from engineering drawings, schematics, and written or verbal instructions to ensure equipment and products meet quality, safety, and performance standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assemble, test, and integrate mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical subassemblies independently or in collaboration with team members.
- Calibrate, align, adjust, modify, and replace components and systems in accordance with engineering and manufacturing requirements.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment, test stations, and product issues to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
- Prepare and apply specified compounds, materials, and solutions as required for production or testing.
- Provide occasional field support for troubleshooting, testing, or assembly activities.
- Define and execute preventative maintenance procedures and manage spare parts inventories for assigned equipment.
- Escalate equipment downtime or quality concerns promptly to appropriate stakeholders.
- Maintain work areas in compliance with company standards, 5S practices, and safety requirements.
- Follow all quality, safety, and environmental procedures.
Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish and English)
- Must be eligible to work in the US (no exceptions).
- High school diploma with relevant on-the-job training, or a postsecondary certificate or associate degree in a technical discipline.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in mechanical and electrical assemblies.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications (Bonus).
- Experience using bench-top test equipment and custom manufacturing test stations (Bonus).
- Experience with process development, tooling development, test method creation, data acquisition, and analysis (Bonus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (Bonus).
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment.
- Regular use of tools and equipment including torque wrenches, calipers, multimeters, hex keys, and other handheld tools.
- Ability to lift, push, or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent exposure to moderate noise levels.
- Requires fine motor skills and manual dexterity for handling small components.
Schedule & Compensation
- Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Pay: Compensation starting at $25.00
