    In this position, the Course Developer will serve as a subject matter expert and will design and assist in the development of a program that prepares students for entry into a career as a Dental Assistant.  The Course Developer will work directly with the MedCerts Product Development team to optimize the delivery of developed training material and determine which of the “MedCerts 12 Elements of eLearning” will be leveraged to deliver course content in the most meaningful and appropriate way.  He/She will write the scripts to be used in our Instructor-led videos and voiceover course elements for our Dental Assistant training course.  He/She will also prepare questions as needed for assessments throughout the course.  Once the videos and elements are produced, he/she will also review the elements for accuracy and proper presentation of the information.  The Course Developer will work with a highly collaborative team, but will be required to work independently, within the determined timeline. 

    The Course Developer will be listed as a program/course contributor, and therefore must submit a professional bio and resume to MedCerts for use in regulatory program submissions and compliance audits as necessary – throughout MedCerts use of the course/program. 

    The term of the contract position is estimated to last approximately five (5) months but may be shortened or extended based on the needs of the program.  While the term for the initial contract is limited, preference will be given to a candidate that is interested in developing a long-term relationship with MedCerts, to provide continuous program and subject matter guidance, and to serve in an ongoing advisory role.  There is also an opportunity to serve as instructor in the video-lecture component of the course, or to provide voiceover work for course elements that require it.

      GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  •    Work closely with others and independently to develop high-quality, engaging and effective eLearning course scripts for a MedCerts Dental Assisting course  •    After analyzing test plans, market data, job’s analysis, and other research – establish course and program learning objectives to align with the needs of the market, employer, and students. •    Write scripts in a conversational manner to be used in instructor-led videos  •    Write scripts in a matter-of-fact manner to be used in voiceover course elements  •    Establish a course outline, establishing the number of lessons required, based on Medcerts identified resources  •    Map course content to identified certification objectives and domain outline   •    Receive guidance and direction from the internal team at MedCerts  •    Follow predefined standards for script development format and flow  •    Proofread and review scripts, prior to submission for internal review  •    Prepare questions as needed for assessments throughout the course  •    Receive guidance and direction from the internal team at MedCerts  •    Review the developed instructor-led videos and voiceover course elements to ensure accuracy and proper presentation of information •    Regularly communicate via phone/email and Microsoft Teams regarding the status and progress of the scripts  •    Adhere to the project timeline and update spreadsheet trackers with progress    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS  •    3+ years of experience in the field and a national certification as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA from AMT) or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA from DANB) and formal training in a dental assisting program. If you do not have the formal education, you can also qualify with 5+ years of experience in the field and a national certification.  •    Must have knowledge of the dental industry, the various certification and regulatory agencies in the field, and have a firm and detailed understanding of the role of a Dental Assistant in today’s allied healthcare environment •    An Associate’s degree or higher in dental assisting, dentistry, health sciences, or a related field is desired. •    Background in educational instruction, curriculum writing, or instructional design is REQUIRED •    Explicit accuracy and attention to detail in delivery of information   •    High comfort level with the use of technology for communication and task completion  •    Produce quality content within expected timelines
