POSITION SUMMARY.
The Data Engineer – Meditech Specialist has the responsibility to provide database extracts of discrete and non-discrete data, documents, images, and other file types from various legacy applications, but with predominant focus on Meditech products, or provides for the conversion of the data for load into a new HIS on complex and time-sensitive projects. Key deliverables include performing data analysis (Forensics) on extracted files as well as conversion of files or images needed for loading into secondary systems including DataArk. In addition, the they will develop, or review text reports generated by other Data Engineers. The Data Engineer - Meditech Specialist will work collaboratively with an internal project teams to ensure accurate and timely delivery of data for archive loading.

1. EXTRACT, MAPPING, AND CONVERSIONS. (*)
· Performs data extraction, mapping of complex or time-sensitive projects, particularly in the Meditech Product space.
· Demonstrates productive and satisfied outcomes for extraction of Meditech projects.
· Investigates and promotes improved data management processes and accuracy of delivered product.
· Advanced abilities to extract data from various database structures and non-database files utilizing ETL techniques.
· Conducts QA of own work, ensuring accurate and reliable data that is ready to load in the MediQuant application.
· Integrates and analyzes data as well as designs, tunes, and develops tools and solutions to deep dive into the data.
· Uses critical thinking to identify potential problems and provides solutions.
2. TROUBLESHOOTING AND PROBLEM SOLVING. (*)
· Pro-actively identifies problems and intervenes to mitigate negative impacts to projects.
· Incorporates testing and reliability as a natural part of the data delivering.
· Researches and proposes improved processes for debugging data anomalies.
· Demonstrated advanced abilities used to prove data analysis processes.
· Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to innovate and find solutions to complex issues, and create tools needed to streamline workflows.
· Collaboratively drives resolution of issues, documenting and sharing results to ensure issues are not repeated.
3. ORGANIZATION AND TIME MANAGEMENT. (*)
· Handles multiple projects and tasks and prioritizes identified deadlines to ensure timely delivery of work product.
· Identifies and leverages available resources to ensure priorities are correctly aligned and delivered. Pro-actively communicates to Project Manager Supervisor and DE Team.
· Owns the responsibility to timely assist DE I or II’s, and to ensure quality of the product and delivery within the established deadline.
· Action-oriented; not satisfied with a slow roll-up to the start line but seeking to move ahead.
· Must be able to work independently as well as being a member of a team.
· Accurately reports all project time for tracking purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Preferred - prior Meditech Employee of more than 5 years
· Expertise and knowledge in all Meditech system Modules a plus
· Programming experience with Meditech Magic or Focus required, (MIIS a bonus)
· Expertise with Data Repository (DR) schema and reporting writing with NPR, Report Designer (RD), or Business & Clinical Analytics (BCA)
· Expertise and knowledge in extracting Meditech data directly from the NPR structured database
· Expertise in providing all Meditech Reports as PDF or TIF from backend or front-end scripting
· Knowledge to convert .mta files to PDF or TIF files
· Knowledge with Meditech purged and archive process

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering. Will consider an Associate degree with 7-10 years equivalent experience with a proven track record of achieved goals in lieu of an Associate degree.
· 7-10 years of SQL experience or other query languages
· Network and Server configurations - Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of networking, VPNs, servers, and security to ensure data integrity and protection against data breach or exposure.
· Extensive knowledge of various programming languages to create programs for data manipulations, i.e., C#, Python and SQL
· Database management, data analysis, data science experience
· 5-7 years’ experience in Healthcare IT or clinical environments
· Working knowledge of various hospital legacy application platforms and associated workflow
· Above average written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas to various teams and levels.
· Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
· Successfully able to follow MediQuant standards with HIPAA regulations involving PHI and HITECH
· 5-7 years of ETL experience in a healthcare environment
· 2-4 years of clinical classification systems and clinical vocabularies and nomenclature, such as CPT, HL7, ICD-10, LOINC, RxNorm, and SNOWMED-CT

WORK ENVIRONMENT. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing some duties of this job, the employee is exposed to dust or other airborne particles. The noise level on the job site is typical of an office environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods of time, stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK. This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TRAVEL. Incumbent may occasionally experience some out-of-the-area and overnight travel.
