    Media Cause is a full service digital agency for a greater good. Since 2011, we've worked with 300+ nonprofit organizations, cause-driven startups, foundations, educators, philanthropists, and social enterprises to accelerate growth and create positive impact in the communities they serve.

    We're looking for a Data Analyst in either our DC, Boston, or SF offices.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO:

    Data Analysis

    • Develops dashboards used to assess client and agency programs and initiatives.
    • Assists in the management and completion of large complex data and analysis projects, including outcomes analysis, prioritization projects, and data mining.
    • Gathers, filters, and segments large data sets, and assists in creating analyses to support various aspects of client projects.
    • Leverages various software tools (Excel, Tableau, R, SQL, Python, etc.) to analyze and present data analysis.
    • Synthesizes information and distributes results through written reports, maps, charts, graphs, presentations, and other media for varied audiences.
    • Prepares and delivers presentations to clients and partners as part of regular product delivery.
    • Participates in client pitches to assist in winning new business, in the form of written and verbal communication.
    • Responds to urgent or time sensitive management requests with high quality analyses.
    • Stays abreast of current and emerging trends in philanthropy, fundraising, advocacy, and business intelligence.

    Data Quality

    • Assists in developing and implementing methods of measuring performance for a range of digital marketing tactics from the lens of bottom-line objectives.
    • Utilizes analysis findings to develop strategy recommendations, with the goal of optimizing client success metrics.
    • Articulately communicates findings in thought leadership materials, such as blogs and industry reports, to assist Media Cause in providing valuable takeaways to the nonprofit community

    Team Support and Project Management

    • Serves as a project or team lead on projects as assigned by Account Directors and senior staff.
    • Liaises with client groups to intake, plan, and deliver projects.
    • Ensures that projects meet client needs and feedback is gathered and evaluated on an ongoing basis.

    QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent training/experience
    • Completion of advanced-level coursework in mathematics, statistics, data science or operations is a bonus
    • At least three to five years of experience analyzing data, preferably in the setting of complex fundraising and/or communications organizations
    • Proficiency working with complex metrics and analysis
    • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications (particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access) and SQL
    • Experience using at least one statistical software package, such as Stata, SPSS, Minitab, SAS/JMP, R. Preferably experience with forecasting and modeling
    • Experience partnering with internal or client teams to create financial forecasts
    • Experience partnering with internal or client teams to create attribution methodology 
    • Desire to continually evolve knowledge and skills along with rapidly advancing trends in the field of data science
    • Familiarity of traditional research techniques, including traditional text and periodical based research, utilizing databases, and the use of other industry resources
    • Proven analytical skills emphasizing the ability to gather, clean, evaluate and synthesize data
    • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
    • Highly organized, able to work independently, and able to work under pressure to coordinate multiple requests and competing deadlines
    • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to adapt and present information in a variety of formats
    • Sensitive, personable and experienced in customer relations skills
    • Experience working in an agency setting a plus
    • Experience working with Nielsen brand studies a plus
    • Desire to contribute to and participate in the mission of Media Cause's clients
