    THE OPPORTUNITY

Tackle real problems with large data sets as part of a small but high-performing team within a fast-paced, high growth business. Media Players is on a mission to become the world's leading provider of data-driven sports marketing and analytics. We combine data science with marketing psychology and world-class media execution to drive measurable engagement for our clients and partners. The Data Team works hand-in-glove with the Marketing Team to provide the core assets needed for microtargeted campaigning (e.g. custom segmentation, predictive scoring, attribution models), while also acting as a ‘skunkworks' that continually innovates with the most powerful data and technology available to provide a competitive edge for the business.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a Data Scientist seeking to apply their technical skills to solve real-world problems and gain a diversity of experience at the intersection of marketing and data science. The role involves data exploration, visualisation, automation, hypothesis testing, predictive modelling and back-testing, and offers the opportunity for career development into either a team leader or technical specialist.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Interface with research managers and marketeers and respond to the analysis needs of the market in order to drive high impact customer acquisition.
    • Use best-in-class tooling to build dashboards and visualisations to track the performance of holistic campaigns.
    • Prototyping of predictive algorithms and put models into production on our CDP to drive data-driven marketing.
    • Automate and streamline data ingestion processes.
    • Devote part of your time to R&D to develop novel technical strategies to improve the performance of campaigns. Follow your intellectual curiosity and don't be afraid to take risks.
    • Act as a technical subject matter specialist within a multidisciplinary team of researchers, data scientists, engineers and marketeers.
    • Be responsible for documentation of models, processes and systems.
    • Maintain a strong level of technical knowledge, and be aware of any new technical developments that may benefit the business.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • An advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering) or equivalent experience.
    • At least 1 year in a hands-on data science role. Past experience with digital marketing campaigns and the associated modelling and analytics highly desirable.
    • Experience working with data from modern marketing and advertising platforms (e.g. DMPs, DSPs) highly desirable. Having deployed models within a CDP or other cloud based data infrastructure a plus.
    • Extensive experience with Python and associated data science libraries (e.g. Pandas, sci-kit learn).
    • Extensive experience with relational databases.
    • Comfortable working in both an exploratory environment (e.g. Jupyter notebook) and able to write modular, reusable, well-documented code.
    • Strong fundamental statistics, with a specific focus on hypothesis testing.
    • Applied knowledge of common machine learning algorithms (e.g. trees, ensembles, neural nets, etc.) and their strengths and weaknesses.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and capable of explaining complex concepts to people from a variety of technical backgrounds.
    • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, and able to work well with other disciplines (e.g. marketeers, applications developers).
    • Experience applying abstract mathematical concepts to noisy, biased or incomplete datasets.
    • Entrepreneurial drive and the desire to contribute to building an early stage company.
    • Ability to balance multiple projects, often with simultaneous and competing deadlines.
    • GDPR or CCPA compliance experience desirable.
    • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
