Role Description
We're hiring a freelance Media Relations Specialist who does one thing exceptionally well: gets clients placed. You chase the story, work every channel, and land the coverage. Contract to start, with room to grow into our in-house media lead.
What you'd do:
- Build and segment media lists in Muck Rack, then pitch them
- Write pitches that get opened: under 150 words, sharp subject lines, warm and personal
- Work every channel that fits: email, LinkedIn, X, cold or warm
- Land earned coverage across trade, national, broadcast, local, and creators on Substack, YouTube, and TikTok
- Turn clinical data and FDA milestones into stories reporters wants to run
- Set up interviews with executives, investigators, and patients
- Run conference media, track coverage in Muck Rack, report weekly

- Scrappy and self-directed. You chase the story without a list handed to you
- A real book of earned placements you can show, with the angle and why each landed
- Muck Rack fluency and your own system for finding the right reporter
- Comfort pitching across email, LinkedIn, and X, not just one channel
- Healthcare, medtech, or regulated-industry experience.
