The Legacy Elder Law Center is a respected and growing elder law firm in Leesburg, Virginia, seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medicaid Application Specialist to join our team. In this vital role, you will support our attorneys and Medicaid team by gathering, organizing, and preparing the documentation necessary to file Medicaid Long-Term Care applications on behalf of clients. Your work will directly impact vulnerable seniors and their families by helping them access critical long-term care benefits. Responsibilities: • Document Compilation: Collect, review, and organize client documents, including financial statements, identification records, insurance policies, property records, and health-related information. • Data Tracking: Maintain accurate, up-to-date logs of client information, application status, and pending documents using our case management software. • Communication: Communicate with clients and their families to request required documentation and clarify outstanding items, providing guidance and support throughout the process. • Coordination: Coordinate with financial institutions, government agencies, and other third parties to obtain verifications and supplemental documents. • Preliminary Review: Perform initial review of asset and income information to help identify potential eligibility issues under Medicaid LTC rules. • Strategy Meetings: Meet with clients to discuss their current financial situation and thoroughly explain their strategy options and what we will do to help them execute their strategy.File Preparation: Assist in the preparation of Medicaid applications and supporting packets under the direction of an attorney or case manager. • Follow-Up: Track submission deadlines, application statuses, and renewal timelines; follow up with Medicaid agencies as needed. • Compliance: Ensure all filings comply with state and federal Medicaid regulations and firm protocols. • Work closely with attorneys on implementing Medicaid strategies to secure Medicaid long-term care benefits for clients. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred • 2+ years of Medicaid experience, administrative, legal, healthcare, or financial services experience • Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive client information with confidentiality and professionalism • Clear written and verbal communication skills, especially when working with elderly clients or their family members • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with legal or CRM software (e.g., ActionStep, Lawmatics) is a plus • Self-motivated, deadline-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team Preferred Skills: • Familiarity with Medicaid LTC eligibility rules, asset and income limits, and spend-down strategies • Experience interpreting bank and financial statements • Comfort in discussing emotionally sensitive topics with compassion and clarity Compensation: $55,000
