Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Medical Assistant to assist with home wound care visits and perform in-home Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) examinations. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent patient communication, and the ability to accurately document medical information. This role requires traveling to patient homes with a provider to assist with wound care assessments, obtain vital signs, perform ABI testing, and ensure accurate documentation of patient information.
Responsibilities:
Assist provider during home wound care visits.
Prepare and maintain wound care supplies and assist with dressing changes as directed by the provider.
Perform Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) exams in the home setting following proper clinical protocol.
Obtain and accurately document vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, oxygen saturation, and pain score.
Conduct and document thorough patient medical histories, including current medications, allergies, past medical history, and chief complaint.
Enter patient information and visit documentation into the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely and accurate manner.
Assist with patient positioning and preparation for wound assessments and procedures.
Assist with front desk tasks when needed.
Maintain infection control and sterile/clean technique during wound care procedures.
Ensure all equipment used for home visits is properly cleaned, stored, and functioning.
Communicate patient concerns or clinical findings promptly to the supervising provider.
Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
Proficiency in taking and documenting vital signs.
Proficiency in obtaining detailed patient medical histories and entering information accurately into EMR systems.
Experience assisting with wound care or vascular testing (ABI) preferred.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently in a home visit environment.
Excellent communication and patient care skills.
Ability to travel to patient homes for scheduled visits.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with wound care, pressure ulcers, or chronic wound management.
Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Experience with portable diagnostic equipment.
Work Environment:
Home visit setting assisting with wound care management and diagnostic testing.
Office setting assisting with patient intake and diagnostic testing.
Travel required to patient residences within the service area.
