    Company Overview American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest primary and urgent care companies in the U.S. providing services seven days a week on a walk-in basis since 1982. Our state-of-the-art centers focus on the episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers' compensation, and occupational medicine. Each location is equipped with an onsite lab and in-house x-ray capability. The specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises.

    Job Summary Provides general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in an outpatient clinic setting.

    Responsibilities

    Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam

    Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients

    Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner

    Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure

    Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing

    Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions

    Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations

    Ensure patient immunizations are well documented, administered in accordance with approved procedure, and stored appropriately

    Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis

    Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures

    Maintain complete and accurate documentation

    Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school. One-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AMT registered and AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
