GENERAL SUMMARY:

As a Medical Assistant in Behavioral Health, you'll play a vital role in delivering compassionate, quality care to patients during some of their most important healthcare moments. Working collaboratively with providers and nursing leadership, you'll combine clinical expertise with genuine patient connection to create a welcoming and supportive care environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Welcome patients with warmth and professionalism, guiding them through their visit and helping them feel comfortable in our behavioral health setting
• Gather comprehensive medical histories through thoughtful, empathetic conversations that build patient trust
• Accurately measure and record vital signs, ensuring precise clinical documentation that supports quality patient care
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures with clear communication and reassurance, addressing any concerns they may have
• Support providers during patient interactions and procedures, anticipating needs and facilitating seamless clinical workflows
• Contribute to a compassionate care environment that prioritizes patient dignity and emotional well-being in behavioral health contexts

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred. Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred. Ability to problem-solve preferred.
• Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred.
• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum). OR
• Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years. OR
• Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of one year of experience in clinical medical assisting. OR
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years. OR
• Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.
