Chesapeake Specialty Care is seeking an enthusiastic, full-time Medical Assistant to join our growing team. This position is ideal for both experienced Medical Assistants and highly motivated gap-year students preparing for Physician Assistant or Medical School programs. We have a strong track record of mentoring pre-PA and pre-med team members who have gone on to succeed in their academic and clinical training.
This role offers opportunities to expand into new responsibilities while supporting a dynamic, physician-led practice.
The position rotates between four office locations—Owings Mills, Rosedale, Westminster, and Columbia—and requires reliable travel between sites as part of the regular schedule. Work hours are Monday through Friday, scheduled within business hours of 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, in 8-hour shifts with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. No weekends required.
Escort and interview patients, documenting medical history and presenting concerns
Monitor and record patient vital signs
Perform clinical support tasks and assist medical staff with procedures
Process prescription orders through the EHR
Coordinate with insurance companies for pre-authorizations
Provide administrative support, including answering phones and taking messages
Pull charts, organize, and file paperwork as needed
Adapt to different office workflows while maintaining consistent quality of care across locations
Other duties as assigned
Previous experience in a medical office setting (preferred but not required for strong candidates)
Knowledge of obtaining pre-authorizations for procedures
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility and willingness to travel between Owings Mills, Westminster, Columbia, and Rosedale offices as scheduled
High School Diploma required
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred
Gap-year applicants pursuing PA or Medical School are strongly encouraged to apply
