Medical Assistant Job Description
Position Summary:
To support the provider by caring, personalized and efficient handling of patients, medical records, supply management and all other duties as assigned. In addition, the Medical Assistant provides appropriate feedback to the medical team, follow-up information to patients and correctly inputs data as required. The Medical Assistant maintains all the required certifications and skills necessary to function within the scope of the Policy and Procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Completes referrals and schedules appointments as required by provider’s orders.
Completes medication refills as requested by patients
Completes prior authorizations for procedures and medications as needed for patients.
Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them, in person or on the phone, answering or referring inquiries.
Optimizes patient satisfaction, provider time, and exam room utilization by efficiently scheduling appointments.
Keeps patient appointments on schedule by verifying patient insurance benefits and eligibility prior to the appointment.
Comforts patients by anticipating patients’ anxieties, answering patients questions, maintains clean and presentable ………
Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
Encourages patient compliance with preventative care by reaching out to patients and reminding them when they are due for preventative exams and screenings.
Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies
Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentially and financial information per HIPPA regulations.
Understands and complies with OSHA and any other regulatory requirements.
Maintains operations by following FOFHC policies and procedures.
Assists in orientation of new personal as directed.
Quickly learns and effectively uses our electronic health record system.
All other duties as trained and requested by provider/management.
Skills and Qualifications:
Medical Assistant by either education or experience preferred.
Certification by the state is preferred
Excellent verbal, telephone, written and communication skills.
Experience working with Microsoft Office and possesses strong computer skills.

Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time, with occasional walking. Ability to bend and lift up to 25 pounds. Hearing and vision required.
SALARY/BENEFITS: Depends upon experience
