    Medical Assistant – Plastic Surgery & Dermatology

    The Maas Clinics is a premier plastic surgery, dermatology, and aesthetic practice dedicated to exceptional clinical outcomes and an elevated patient experience. We are seeking an experienced, polished, and highly professional Medical Assistant with clinical, front office, and insurance experience to support both our plastic surgery and dermatology services.

    This role is ideal for a motivated team player who is emotionally and professionally mature, detail-oriented, and comfortable navigating both patient care and insurance-related workflows in a fast-paced, high-touch medical environment.

    Position Summary & Responsibilities

    Clinical & Patient Care

    Serve as a patient advocate throughout examinations, procedures, and treatments.

    Escort patients to exam, procedure, or operative rooms and prepare them for the physician.

    Accurately record patient medical history, medications, allergies, vitals, and test results in the EMR.

    Ensure all required consent forms are properly completed prior to treatment.

    Prepare and administer medications as directed by the physician, following all safety protocols.

    Explain procedures, medications, wound care, and physician instructions clearly to patients.

    Assist physicians during exams and procedures, including suture removal and maintaining sterile fields during surgical procedures.

    Under physician direction, assist with prescription refills and pharmacy communications.

    Properly dispose of biohazard and infectious waste according to regulations.

    Insurance & Administrative Support

    Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for medical and surgical services.

    Assist with prior authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications as needed.

    Collect and document insurance information accurately at check-in and during scheduling.

    Support coding and documentation accuracy to facilitate insurance billing and claims processing.

    Communicate insurance coverage, benefits, and financial responsibility to patients in a clear and professional manner.

    Coordinate with billing teams to resolve insurance-related questions or discrepancies.

    Clinical Operations & Inventory

    Prepare, clean, and reset exam and procedure rooms between patients and at end of day.

    Inventory, stock, and assess the need for medical instruments, supplies, and equipment.

    Order medical supplies monthly and ensure equipment is in proper working condition.

    Perform accurate and timely documentation of all procedures and patient interactions.

    Adhere to all clinic policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

    Front Office & Patient Experience Support

    Assist with appointment scheduling, confirmations, and patient flow coordination.

    Support check-in/check-out processes, including insurance verification and payments when needed.

    Maintain a clean, organized, and professional clinical and patient-facing environment.

    Contribute to a culture of exceptional customer service and teamwork.

    Qualifications

    Required

    High school diploma or equivalent

    Certified Medical Assistant

    Knowledge of sterile technique, anatomy, and medications

    Working knowledge of medical insurance processes, including eligibility verification and prior authorizations

    Strong understanding of HIPAA and applicable state and federal regulations

    Basic to intermediate computer and EMR proficiency

    Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English (verbal and written)

    Preferred

    2+ years of experience in plastic surgery, dermatology, or aesthetic medical setting

    Dermatology experience strongly preferred

    Experience with surgical authorizations and insurance-driven procedures
