Job Description: We are seeking two full-time (35 to 40 hours on average weekly) Medical Assistants/Gap Year Students to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting our allergy clinic with food and medication challenges, patient care, administrative duties, and ensuring a smooth workflow within the clinic.
The clinic is open Monday and Thursday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
Tuesday and Wednesday 8:00 am to 6:00/6:30 pm
This position is an excellent opportunity for candidates taking gap year(s), providing meaningful, hands-on experience in a clinic that has been innovating in food allergy care for over a decade.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in conducting food/medication challenges and oral immunotherapy treatments.
Monitor patients for allergic reactions.
Assist with patient intake, including obtaining medical history, vital signs, and documenting in the electronic health record (EHR).
Prepare and administer allergy tests, skin prick tests, and pulmonary function tests under physician supervision.
Administer allergy immunotherapy injections and provide patient education on treatment plans.
Assist in performing office-based procedures related to allergy and immunology care.
Maintain accurate and organized patient records.
Handle patient inquiries, schedule appointments, and manage prior authorizations for medications and treatments.
Ensure compliance with clinic policies, infection control procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
Manage medical inventory, sterilize equipment, and maintain exam rooms.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide excellent patient care.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems (eClinicalworks use is a plus).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Very strong attention to detail.
