    East Florida Eye Institute is seeking a motivated and compassionate Medical Assistant with phlebotomy experience who is eager to grow into the ophthalmology field. This is an excellent opportunity for an MA looking to expand their clinical skills and build a long-term career in a specialized medical environment.

    About the Role

    In this hybrid position, you will use your existing MA and phlebotomy skills while receiving hands‑on training to become an Ophthalmic Tester/Technician. You’ll work closely with our physicians, technicians, and clinical team to support exceptional patient care.

    Key Responsibilities

    Medical Assistant & Phlebotomy Duties:

    Perform venipuncture and properly handle lab specimens.

    Obtain and document vital signs and medical histories.

    Assist with patient intake and coordination of care.

    Maintain clean, organized, and safe exam and procedure rooms.

    Ophthalmic Testing Duties (Training Provided):

    Learn and perform diagnostic testing such as:

    Visual acuity

    Tonometry

    OCT imaging

    Visual fields

    Fundus photography

    Document patient findings in the EMR accurately and efficiently.

    Prepare patients for examinations and assist during in-office procedures.

    Qualifications

    Medical Assistant experience required (certification preferred but not required).

    Phlebotomy experience required (certification a plus).

    Strong patient-care and communication skills.

    Ability to learn new procedures, equipment, and workflows quickly.

    Professional, reliable, and team-oriented.

    Prior ophthalmology experience is not required — we provide full training.
