NEEDED: Medical Assistant
LOCATION: 501 Capital Circle N.E., Tallahassee, FL 32301
SCHEDULE: 40 Hours, M–F, between 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM or 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant school or program.
- Shall maintain current certification as a Medical Assistant in the State of Florida.
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified, in accordance with the American Heart Association Basic Life Support.
JOB DUTIES:
- Provide nursing care to include, taking and recording patient history, vital signs, making appointments, assisting Mid-Level Practitioners and physicians in clinical activities. Assist the Optometrist with vision screening and exams.
- Perform venipuncture from patients for analysis or other medical purposes when necessary.
- Collect and process Urinalysis.
- Adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
- Ability and skill to operate EKG and laboratory equipment.
- Knowledge of mental health disorders and must have the ability to screen for gross mood changes.
- Ability to provide basic first aid, prevention care, and guidance in treating a variety of common illnesses/injuries.
- Properly triage sick-call complaints and refer to RN or APP as appropriate.
- Perform duties as required but accept only those assignments that are commensurate with his/her educational preparation, training, experience, and licensure laws.
- Operation of EKG machine, and other special medical apparatus and equipment within the HSU.
- Will assist providers in the urgent care room when necessary.
- General medical assistant duties.
- Maintain supplies in all exam rooms.
- Screening eye exams and assisting physicians and mid-level practitioners in minor
- surgical cases.
- Maintain daily sick call list and place Inmates on call out as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
