    Job Title: Medical Assistant or Nurse (LPN), Dermatology

    Job Overview:

    We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant or Nurse to join our dynamic dermatology team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our dermatologists and ensuring the highest quality of care for our patients. This role involves assisting with clinical tasks, maintaining patient records, and ensuring a smooth workflow in the dermatology clinic.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Rooming patients and documenting patient visits

    • Show patients to procedure and exam rooms and prepare them for the physician.
    • Interview patients to obtain medical information and the reason for their visit.
    • Record patients' medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results into the Apple iPad-based EMR. Assist with documentation during the visit into the EMR.

    Assisting physician with patient visits and treatments

    • Help physician examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such tasks as injections, changing wound dressing or removing sutures.
    • Collect tissue or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing.
    • Operate medical equipment including light phototherapy units.
    • Perform cosmetic treatments as mutually agreed upon with overseeing physician.

    Managing patient-related issues

    • Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
    • Work with pharmacies and insurance companies on prior authorizations.
    • Fax referral letters back to referring physicians.
    • Respond to patient questions and inquiries.

    Preparing the clinic for patients

    • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
    • Wash and fold clinic-related laundry.
    • Prepare procedure and exam rooms for patients’ examinations, keeping the rooms adequately stocked with supplies and neat and clean.
    • Assist in managing clinic supplies including monitoring existing supplies and ordering necessary supplies as needed in advance of depletion.

    Qualifications:

    - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) preferred.
    - Previous experience in a dermatology setting is highly desirable.
    - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
    - Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic office software.
    - Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    - Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    - Commitment to providing compassionate care to patients of all ages.
