    Ellie Mental Health of Chelmsford is seeking an experienced and compassionate individual that will lead revenue cycle management (RCM) for our rapidly growing group practice.

    The Medical Billing & Revenue Cycle Lead position will be a full-time position (W-2) although there will be a transitional period from our existing billing service where the role will be part-time.

    This position can be remote or hybrid (we have offices in Chelmsford, MA) and the hours are flexible.

    Essential Job Functions and Duties

    Conduct insurance verifications to understand patient insurance benefits and document in EHR.

    Collaborate with behavioral health providers as needed and obtain outstanding documentation.

    Review electronic remittance advice (ERA) to reconcile with insurance and patient balances.

    Monitor and follow up on unpaid, underpaid, or denied claims, including appeals and resubmissions, to ensure timely reimbursement and resolution of payment issues.

    Work closely with clinicians and leadership to resolve errors.

    Send patient statements, settles patient balances and manage patient payment plans.

    Place outbound calls to patients regarding past due balances or defaulted payment plans.

    Take inbound calls and emails from patients regarding account questions.

    Review patient credit balances and process refunds as needed.

    Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations in handling and protecting sensitive behavioral health information.

    Report regularly on assigned responsibilities including A/R, trends, payments, balances, and claim errors.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Necessary Skills/Abilities/Education

    High School Diploma or equivalent required.

    Desired minimum 2 years experience in medical billing, with a preference for mental health billing.

    Solid understanding of billing software and electronic medical records.

    Solid understanding of medical insurance billing, deductibles, and copays.

    Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.

    Must demonstrate calm, rational thinking and clear communication when faced with deadlines and customer demands.

    Attention to detail and organizational skills.

    Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) system Valant is a major plus (candidates with this experience will be given preference).

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Must have a working smartphone and reliable access to internet.
